The Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) announced Monday the successful conclusion of the 2024 Annual Clean Energy and Transportation Conference, held on Oct. 16 at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland.
This year’s event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates to explore sustainable solutions in energy and transportation. The conference featured insightful discussions and expert panels on key topics, including alternative fuel corridors, sustainable aviation fuels, and strategies to reduce emissions in heavy-duty vehicles.
Attendees were particularly engaged in sessions focused on the electrification of school buses, legislative updates on clean energy policies, and innovative approaches to fleet electrification.
With over 40 expert speakers from various sectors — including government and industry — participants gained valuable insights into the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in clean energy and sustainable transportation. The collaborative environment sparked new ideas and inspired meaningful conversations about the future of clean transportation.
The conference featured an awards luncheon, where GWRCCC honored individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to advancing clean transportation. The celebration highlighted the dedication and achievements of those committed to promoting sustainable practices in the industry.
Highlights from the conference include engaging panel sessions and interactive workshops fostering collaboration among participants; launch of the new GWRCCC brochure, “Leading with Equity in Fleet Electric Vehicle Deployment,” which emphasizes inclusive access to electric vehicle infrastructure and benefits for communities historically affected by pollution; announcement of the 2024 Ron Flowers Future Green Leaders Scholarship recipients, recognizing recent graduates, committed to pursuing degrees in sustainability or environmental studies and a networking mixer, allowing attendees to connect, share ideas, and build relationships within the clean energy and transportation community.
“We are thrilled by the momentum GWRCCC is building,” Antoine M. Thompson, CEO and executive director of the organization. “The awardees, speakers, and attendees made the conference truly memorable. Together, we can continue to drive intentional and impactful progress toward a cleaner transportation future that benefits all communities in our region.”
