There’s an appliance in your kitchen that doesn’t get nearly enough love – and it’s not your dishwasher. Your mini oven, otherwise known as a toaster oven, might be great for your morning bagel – but it’s also excellent for cooking a host of other simple snacks and foods too, read more here.

If you and your kids are looking for an easy way to start baking together, or you just need something to keep your little ones happy after school, then your mini oven could be a godsend. Here, we’re going to introduce you to some amazing toaster oven recipes for any occasion.

1. Mini Grilled Cheese

The grilled cheese is an absolute after-school staple for most kids. There’s nothing quite as comforting and delicious as coming home to one of these bad boys after a long day. Using the bake setting for your toaster oven, try making this super creamy and delicious grilled cheese, which also contains arugula, apples, and walnuts for extra crunch. It’s delightful and healthy at the same time – just what you want for your little ones.

2. Sheet Pan Pizza

Another option that’s sure to be a hit with kids of all ages, sheet pan pizza allows you to deliver a dinner-time favorite, without much hard work. This quick and easy pizza recipe uses pre-made dough to save you some extra time. In total, it only takes around 20 minutes and that includes baking. You can get your kids to help you with the cooking and encourage them to add their own healthy toppings too.

3. Toasted Brie and Apple Sandwich

Although this recipe mentions using a conventional oven for your bite-sized toasted sandwich, we can’t see anything wrong with using a mini oven instead. You don’t have to use Brie, ham, and apple, as suggested here for your sandwiches either. You can also ask your kids to suggest the kind of ingredients that they would prefer in a warm lunch or snack.

4. Peanut Butter Cookies

We’ve yet to find a kid that would say no to a peanut butter cookie when they’re getting ready for school or hanging out at home. This particular sweet snack is great because it’s easy to make and comes with very few ingredients to master. You can even dip the cookie in some melted chocolate and sprinkles if you want to take it to the next level.

5. Toaster Oven Tostados

Want restaurant-style Mexican food in the comfort of your own home? Try these fifteen-minute Tostados on for size. All you need to do is add some cheddar and black beans onto some corn tortillas to get started. If you want to increase the protein in this meal, you could also add eggs and make it into the perfect breakfast too. Check out some easy breakfast recipes here.

6. Baked Eggs

Speaking of eggs, you don’t just have to cook them in a pan with gallons of oil. Why not try introducing your kids to some new flavors and textures with a set of baked eggs. The recipe here allows you to make delightful egg cups, complete with marinara sauce, capers, and cheese. You can remove the capers if you have picky kids and add extra ingredients if you prefer too. For a lighter version of this meal, replace the whipping cream with reduced-fat milk.

7. Stone Fruit Crisps

Finally, these fruit-packed crisps are perfect for snacking while watching on the television. If your kids are craving something crunchy and packed with flavour, but you don’t want to give them something processed, this is the recipe for you. You can make your crisps with peaches, plums, and cherries. To make the whole experience even healthier, use almond or whole-wheat flour, and swap the sugar for apple sauce.
