The District of Columbia State Board of Education and Office of the State Superintendent are working to expand the classroom education of Indigenous history, implementing new social studies standards that offer greater depth and insight into the lives of Indigenous Peoples of the DMV, as well as the lives of African Americans, women, LGBTQ+ and others who have historically been marginalized.
